Girls, Boys Cross Country Qualify For Groups

Cross country’s Sectionals were held yesterday in Clark and both the girls and boys cross country teams from Verona High School finished well enough to qualify for the Group championship in Holmdel next Saturday.

VHS girls cross country finished second in North 2 Group 1. Annalie Ying, a senior, took 10th place with a time of 22:12.85, while Kara Dunphy, Katherine Respoli and Lily Nachbaur also finished in the top 20, with times ranging from 22:52.66 to 23:22.66. Meghan Kenneally, Lucy Hogan, and Eleanor Newman also ran for Verona.

The boys cross country finished third in North 2 Group 1. Ian Zalewski, a sophomore, was the top finisher for Verona boys, taking third place with a time of 16:58.14. Milo Attal, a senior, came in eighth with a time of 18:09.88. Alec Hamson also made the top 20, with a time of 18:52.35. Connor Robinson, Elliot Ziebert, Noah Hayden, and Max Della Fera also ran for Verona.
