The pandemic turned last year’s Verona UNICO’s Labor Day 5K into a virtual event, but not this year.
The 39th annual race, held on a USATF-certified course up the hills of Verona, will be held on Monday, September 6. It steps off at 9:30 a.m. on Lakeside Avenue in front of Our Lady of the Lake church, and the time to register is now: Online registration will close at midnight on Sunday, August 29.
Registration for the 5K is $25 ($20 for USATF members) and $15 for the fun run around Verona Park, which starts at 9 a.m.
There will be prizes for the top three male and female Verona residents and the top three male and female finishers in each of the five age groups, as well as running shoes from Montclair’s Fleet Feet Sports to the first overall male and female finishers.
Verona UNICO organizes this event with the Essex Running Club. It serves as a major fundraiser for UNICO, which uses the money to support local volunteer and non-profit organizations as well as scholarships for high school seniors who are residents of Verona.
You can register online here; online registration will close at midnight on Sunday, August 29.
