Verona’s fireworks are ON for tonight–Wednesday, June 30–at the Verona Community Center, but the town is asking everyone to take some extra steps because of the heat: Bring water, blankets and chairs with rounded bottoms, like sand chairs. There will be no legged chairs, food or drink allowed on the field.

Activities begin at 7 p.m. and fireworks will be at dusk, about 9:15 p.m. Parking will be limited to designated areas.

Essex County, however, has postponed the fireworks that were to have been held tonight at Weequahic Park in Newark until August 11. The fireworks scheduled for tomorrow, July 1, in Brookdale Park are still on. Cedar Grove’s fireworks, scheduled for July 1 are still on as well

Montclair will once again not hold its Independence Day parade and picnic. But West Orange will have a food truck festival on July 4 at West Orange High School from 1 to 9 p.m., with fireworks at dusk. Caldwell and West Caldwell will also hold their joint fireworks at James Caldwell High School on July 4. The gates open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $3. If you can’t get to the high school, there’s usually good fireworks viewing from the parking lot by the Chipotle in West Caldwell.

Finally, the Montclair Gold Club will hold its fireworks on Saturday, July 3. You can’t get on the grounds unless you are a member, but you can see the display from many of the high points in Verona.
