Judith “Judy” Anne Burd, 80, of Bear, Delaware, died June 18, 2021 at Christiana Hospital. She was born on February 22, 1941 in Montclair, the daughter of Anthony and Henrietta Follo.

After graduating from Montclair High School she was employed by Montclair Savings Bank, where she started as an administrative assistant and was later promoted to bank officer. She married Richard A. Burd on September 7, 1963. She purchased a home in Verona and resided there for 48 years, where she raised her three daughters prior to moving to Bear in June 2020.

Judy had many loves, one being music. She loved listening to Elvis, the Mavericks and Adam Ant. In the 80s she even led an Adam Ant fan club and through correspondence became pen pals with Adam’s mother. Along with music, Judy had a strong love of travel. Her most frequent destination was visiting St. Anne’s Church in Quebec. Her strong faith in St. Anne led her to visit the church over 35 times, each time organizing trips consisting of family, friends and once even a chartered bus from Our Lady of the Lake church in Verona with Father Tim. Her other destinations included Italy, Switzerland, Germany and 49 U.S. states. Her family was amazed by the stories and pictures of lifelong friends she would return home with.

Family was the most important love of all for Judy. She enjoyed every moment she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren, from childhood to adulthood. Whether it was trips to the Jersey shore, hockey games, baseball games, dance recitals or trips to vineyards, she could always be found in attendance with a smile on her face, pride in her heart and a glass of wine in hand.

Judy’s zest for life amazed all who she touched. She was always able to lighten up a room with her contagious smile. No matter what life threw at her, her joyful spirit always shined through. Along the way, her personality led to many friendships that remained strong throughout her life.

The family includes three daughters, Maria Burd of Bear; Nancy Timmons and her husband, Gary of Verona; and Rita Burd and fiancée, Tracy Burrows of Bear; four grandchildren, Brittany Scott, Nicole Scott, Steven Timmons and Michael Scott; and ex-husband Richard Burd.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be at the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 4 to 6 p.m. with a service to follow at 6 p.m.
