On Monday, Verona auxiliary firefighters Gavin Tremper, Adam Kazanfer and Mike Costa (above) began training for Firefighter 1 certification at the Morris County Fire Academy. Over the next five weeks, they will attend the academy full time  to earn their certification and become full members of the Verona Fire Department.

Russ Williamson also began his Firefighter 1 certification this week. He is taking classes at night at the Bergen County Fire Academy, and will need six months of study to earn his certification.

Tremper, Cost and Kazanfer are members of the Verona Rescue Squad, and Tremper and Kazanfer are also being certified as EMTs.
