The percentage of Verona residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19 rose slightly in the past week.

According to the New Jersey Department of Health, 60% of Veronans are now fully vaccinated, up from 59% last week. Four weeks ago, only half of our residents were fully vaccinated. The percentage of those who have received at least one dose now stands at 68%, unchanged from last week, but up from 63% four weeks ago. The state date does not break out who has gotten which vaccine dose, but if someone got the one-shot vaccine from Johnson & Johnson, it counts as fully vaccinated.

Verona is tied with Cedar Grove in residents fully vaccinated, but Cedar Grove is ahead on those who have gotten at least one shot, at 71%. The fully vaccinated rate Montclair has increased to 58% from 57% last week, and 70% of Montclair residents have gotten at least one shot. In Caldwell, the full vaccination rate has improved to 56% from 55% and 66% have gotten one dose. COVID-19 has hit Essex County’s poorest towns the hardest.

You can see the full state data map at the bottom of this page on the state Department of Health website.
