The Verona Recreation Department will be holding its summer playground program this year, but it will be limited.
In an email this week, Jim Cunningham, Verona’s director of community services, said that part of the problem is that there will once again be summer construction work at Verona’s schools, which the Rec Department has traditionally used for the summer program. The other problem, of course, is the COVID-19 pandemic.
So Cunningham is planning an outdoor program for Pre-K through grade 2 children that will be held under tents at the Verona Community Center fields in July. The programs will be outside and sunshine only, Cunningham said, and will operate from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday to Friday. All participants will have to be masked.
Cunningham said that he will have more details when registration for the program is opened.
