COVID Vaccine Shortage Forces County Cancellation
Essex County says it must cancel Saturday, February 20, appointments for first shots of the COVID-19 vaccine because the county has not received the doses it needs from the federal government. County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. made the announcement on his Twitter feed this afternoon. Second shots booked for Saturday are continuing as scheduled.
The county vaccination sites will also be open on Sunday this weekend because all vaccination appointments that had been scheduled for Thursday, February 18, had to be re-booked because of the snow storm.
As of Wednesday, February 17, Essex County had given 59,695 first doses of the COVID vaccine and 21,183 second doses. The county has an estimated population of 799,785.
Appointments for the first vaccination dose scheduled on Saturday, February 20th are canceled because Essex County has not received our shipment of vaccines from the Federal government. Your appointment will be rescheduled to a date between February 22nd and 28th. pic.twitter.com/zpNwCXLPKH
