There is, in Verona, a strong culture of neighbors helping neighbors. There are also businesses here that work hard to support their fellow small businesses. Latest case in point: Dekko & Co

The salon, which is located at the corner of Bloomfield and Cumberland avenues across from Verona Park, is selling a card that offers discounts to seven other small businesses. With it, buyers can get $50 off their first month at Evolve Cycle & Fitness in Caldwell, and in Verona, there’s 20% off at Academy Apparel, 10% off at Brittany Renee Lash Studio, 15% off a visit to JT’s Barbershop, 20% off a deli purchase at Lakeside Deli, and 20% off at Nick’s Salugo Bistro and Frank Anthony’s Gourmet Italian. The card, which costs $10, also entitles the buyer to 20% off the next visit to Dekko.

Karen Jandoli, the owner of Dekko, says they first sold the cards in the summer to support local small businesses while most were closed by the pandemic. “We wanted to keep the shopping local,” she said.

The cards are available at Dekko’s front desk every day it is open. Its hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Dekko is closed on Sundays.
