Amelia Koellhofer stopped 10 shots on goal Tuesday afternoon, but the junior’s efforts were not enough to keep the Verona High School girls soccer team from falling to Livingston 4-0.
The Lancer’s scoring came from four of its juniors–Ceci Freschi, Jadyn Liebman, Kelly Lyons and Guilia Wilson. Verona got eight shots on Livingston’s goalies.
The win drops Verona’s record to 4-6. Verona’s girls have two more games on their schedule, both away. They travel to Columbia on Friday, November 6 and then up the road to Mount Saint Dominic next Tuesday, November 10.
In other Verona sports action on Tuesday, Nikhil Parekh was the top finisher for VHS at the SEC cross country championships in Branch Brook Park. The senior’s time was 18:50.40, which landed him in the middle of the field of 61 runners. As a team, the Verona boys finished in eighth place. The VHS girls cross country team has its SEC championship in the Newark park today.
Also Wednesday, girls tennis will host Columbia, field hockey welcomes Newark Academy and boys soccer is away at Montclair’s Fortunato Field.
