On the last Friday of Breast Cancer Awareness month, representatives of Verona’s home-grown breast cancer patient support nonprofit Minette’s Angels handled the coin toss as Verona High School football hosted Jersey City’s Lincoln High School.

The Lincoln Lions got on the board first, but it was almost entirely Verona’s game from then on. Cael Zebrowski connected with three different players–Ben Mackey, a sophomore whose primary assignment is the line, as well as James Haveron and Steven Petro–while Kieran Patel added a field goal. Zebrowski had a TD as well and 163 passing yards on the evening, raising his season total to 812, with 48 completions on 76 attempts.

The 30-12 win improves Verona’s record to 4-1. Football has one more regular game this season, an away contest at Ramsey on Friday evening.
