Francis Gennarelli, the owner of Mud Sweat Tears and MST CrossFit in Verona, is getting ready for a race that sounds like it should be on Halloween but won’t actually occur until next summer.

It’s called the Death Race because it is the world’s toughest endurance race and it will be held in in Pittsfield, Vermont from July 20 to 23, 2021. This will be Gennarelli’s third competition in the Death Race.

Competitors in the 72-hour event attempt to complete a series of physically and mentally grueling challenges using only the food, water and supplies that they bring with them.

Gennarelli enjoys competing in endurance events. He has qualified and competed in all three Spartan Ultra World Championships in Iceland and Sweden, taking second place in his age group last year. He also completed the 2019 Death Race, the 2020 virtual Death Race and Goruck team assessment class 001.
