A second individual at H.B. Whitehorne Middle School has tested positive for COVID-19. The first case was reported to the public on October 12. The only people in the middle school now are administrators, teachers and custodians, along with a small number of special education students.

Superintendent Rui Dionisio said in an email this morning that any individual who was identified as being a close contact with the positive individual has been notified to self quarantine and monitor symptoms, and that all exposed areas in school are disinfected and cleaned when there is a reported case, in addition to daily disinfection. Dionisio said that the Montclair Health Department, which is providing guidance on COVID safety, has advised the Verona school that no additional action is necessary at this time.
