A Reminder About Dryer Fires
By Staff Report on September 13, 2020
Yesterday, just after 5:30 p.m., the Verona Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a possible fire in a basement.
Engine 14 arrived on scene first and quickly deployed its hose lines, gained entry and knocked the fire down as Engine 10 and the remaining apparatus and manpower from the VFD arrived on scene to support. A ladder truck from Montclair came up to the scene for aerial coverage while VFD members ventilated the home.
It was all over in an hour but the message is clear, says the VFD: Please clean the lint filters every time you use your dryer.
