The Verona Democratic Team awarded its 2020 scholarship to recent graduate Jordan Warner. The scholarship is awarded to a Verona High School graduating senior who plans to study political science, history, international relations or any other major they intend to use for public service.
Warner will be attending Rutgers-Netwark in the fall as part of the Honors Living-Learning Community. She will be studying Poli Sci and Criminal Justice with plans to attend law school. In her application she expressed a passion for politics and pushing for environmental justice.
Warner had a very impressive resume at VHS including founding the Environmental Club during her junior year. She led an impressive coat drive that resulted in the club donating over 100 coats to the RAINN Foundation, an organization for homeless youth.
Warner has a passion for making a difference and activism. Her future plans beyond law school include working for Women’s and LGBTQIA in addition to her environmentalism. Her impressive academic career as well as public service made her selection unanimous with the scholarship committee.
The Verona Democratic Team, in conjunction with the Verona Democratic Municipal Committee awards $500 each year to a deserving senior. The Verona Democratic Team is made up of local Verona residents who support Democratic candidates and issues.
