Alex Cook’s first “You Are Loved” sign in Verona.

For nine weeks, Alex Cook has been painting and re-painting a ping-pong table top with the words “You Are Loved” in big block letters. Cook, who has been quarantining in Verona during the outbreak of COVID-19, has been painting murals with similar messages all over the United States since 2013.

Verona residents who have walked past the art at 170 Claremont Avenue have watched it evolve from week to week, but may not have fully registered its transformation. So Cook put together a time-lapse video of the work that he has been doing each Monday.
