Last month, Verona resident Jane Eliasof did an online presentation about how the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918 and 1919 affected our area. If you missed it, Eliasof, who is the executive director of the Montclair History Center (MHC), has put the presentation on the MHC’s YouTube channel.

“Since the lock-down in March, I’ve been researching how a local community responded to the epidemic by scanning the Montclair Times from that year,” Eliasof said when she announced the program. “It’s been fascinating to discover both the similarities and differences today.”

You can watch it in full in the video below. The program is also close-captioned for the hearing impaired.
