Hearth Realty Group has signed on to be a real estate specialist for Homes for Heroes, a national program to help firefighters, EMS workers, law enforcement, active-duty military, reserves and veterans, as well as healthcare professionals and teachers save on buying or selling a home.

Inspired by the tragic events of 9/11, Homes for Heroes was started in Minneapolis in 2002. Since that time, it has helped over 27,000 heroes and given back over $43 million through its Hero Rewards® savings program. When working with Homes for Heroes real estate and mortgage specialists, heroes can receive significant savings when they buy, sell or refinance a home.

“We’re committed to giving back, serving and saying thank you to our local community heroes because they do so much to make our great community what it is today,” say Anne Lisa and Kerry Metzger of Hearth Realty Group, the Homes for Heroes real estate specialists in Verona. “They tirelessly serve and sacrifice for us so we feel it’s the right thing to do, and we’re excited to be able to give back and say thank you.”

To benefit from the Hero Rewards® savings program, people must be involved in one of the hero occupations and be registered on HomesForHeroes.com. When a hero buys a home, he or she will receive a check from Homes for Heroes. If a hero obtains a mortgage or refinances a mortgage through the program, lending fees are reduced. Heroes selling a home will benefit from reduced real estate service fees at closing. Homes for Heroes also has local and national business affiliates that can provide other home-related services and savings on national brands such as Target, Under Armour, Carhartt and Columbia.

Homes for Heroes also donates a portion of its earnings to the Homes for Heroes Foundation, a nonprofit helping heroes with emergency housing or financial assistance. That means every time a hero buys or sells a home with Homes for Heroes, they are helping heroes in need. Since its founding in 2009, the Foundation has awarded over $500,000 to help heroes.
