Mr. William B. Spooner, IV, 72, died on May 1, 2020 in West Orange. Private services were held.

Born in Montclair, Mr. Spooner grew up and lived in Verona prior to moving to West Orange five years ago. He graduated from Our Lady of the Lake School and the Carteret Academy in West Orange, Class of 1965 before attending Monmouth College in Indiana for one year. He did clerical work for Deloitte & Touche, an accounting firm in Parsippany for 25 years.

Mr. Spooner was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Lake parish and loyal member of the Knights of Columbus Council of Verona-Cedar Grove. He routinely participated in the March for Life in Washington, D.C., supported the K of C Poppy fundraiser and was an usher at the 10 a.m. Sunday Mass at OLL.

Mr. Spooner was predeceased by his parents, William B. Spooner, III and Margaret “Peggy” (nee Ennis) Spooner; his sister, Rosellen Dowd; his brother, Thomas G. Spooner; and his brothers-in-law, Karl Saks and Alexis DeJesus.

He is survived by his sisters, Peggy DeJesus, Wendy Saks and Nancy-Sue Spooner and his brothers, Richard B., Laurence P., David J. and Mark C. Spooner. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

In his memory, contributions to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Processing Center, P. O. Box 863765, Orlando, FL 32886 would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I grew up with the Spooner family in Verona. I have such fond memories of playing with Rosellen, Billy and their siblings. Such a nice family and I loved them all.
