The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association said this morning that if New Jersey high schools can get back to spring sports, there will be changes to the season.

The spring sports season will be extended to June 30, but it will not extend beyond that. Before play resumes, athletes in all sports except golf, will have to have six days of practice and one day of rest. After the first three days of practice, athletes may participate in scrimmages that will count toward the six days of practice.

If high school athletics can resume before May 25, the NJSIAA will run modified Sectional
tournaments in late June. Additionally, schools may continue interscholastic competition up until
June 30, outside of participation in Sectional tournaments. If athletics resume after Memorial Day, there won’t be Sectional tournaments. However, the NJSIAA says the individual leagues and conferences can host local interscholastic competitions up until June 30.
