At the YMCA of Montclair, the safety and well-being of our members, staff, volunteers and the greater Montclair community have always been and will always be a top priority.

The YMCA of Montclair learned today that a member of our Park Street YMCA has been diagnosed with COVID-19 (coronavirus). Our thoughts and prayers are with our member and their family during this difficult time.

We urge those members who attend the Tuesday 9 a.m. and Thursday 10 a.m. Strength, Endurance and Balance classes with Alex to seek medical attention and testing.

The Park Street YMCA is closing effective immediately. The priority is to flatten the curve of the virus so that our hospitals do not become overloaded. We hope you understand that we do not do this lightly.

The Geyer Family YMCA will remain open today until 6:30 p.m. It will then also be closed beginning, Saturday March 14.

We will continue to work with the health department and local physicians to determine what other actions, if any, would be prudent on our part. We will continue to provide updates to all members as they become available via email and our social media channels.

Please continue to check with the New Jersey Department of Public Health and the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the most up to date information.
