Mr. George A. Sheridan, 76, died on February 24, 2020 in Belleville surrounded by his loving family. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Friday, February 28 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be offered at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 32 Lakeside Ave., Verona on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Born in Newark, Mr. Sheridan grew up in Belleville and moved to Verona in 1979.

He graduated from Belleville High School and the Essex County Police Academy. He worked for the Belleville Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 1991.

Mr. Sheridan was an active member of P.B.A. Local 28 and was an avid golfer and fan of Rutgers Football & the Yankees.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah (nee Holder) Sheridan; his loving children, Kim Sheridan Viscuso (Ronald), George R. Sheridan (Megan), Erin Sheridan Raia (Andrew), Kelly Sheridan and Lindsay Sheridan Soto (Alejandro), and cherished grandchildren, Elissa Troisi, Jaclene Troisi, Dominic Gadia, Luke Sheridan, Mason Sheridan and Christian Soto. He is also survived by his sister, Ellen Verzaleno.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Verona P.B.A. Local 72, P. O. Box 72, Verona, NJ 07044 or the Verona Rescue Squad, 12 Church Street, Verona, NJ 07044 would be greatly appreciated.
