Advent, Christmas Activities At First Presbyterian

The Advent and Christmas season begins at First Presbyterian church this weekend with craft workshops and music.

Saturday, December 14, Children’s Christmas Workshop, 10 a.m to 2 p.m.: All children are invited to join us for a fun time of crafts, music, lunch, God Time, baking and the Decorating Extravaganza. The cost to participate is $10 per child ($25 family max) and registration is required. Registration forms are available at the church, Thrift Shop or by calling the church (973-239-3561). Please make checks payable to First Presbyterian Church of Verona with “Christmas Children’s Program” in the check memo.

Sunday, December 15, Worship Service, 10:15 a.m.: Third Sunday In Advent. Special Advent Music by the Chancel Choir. Alternative Christmas Mall continues in Chamberlain Hall after the service. “Purchase” a gift in the form of a donation to one of many charities such as Camp Johnsonburg, Heifer International, and Interfaith Hospitality Network. When you make a donation you will receive a card that you can share with your loved one letting them know that a donation has been made on their behalf.

Sunday, December 15, “The Magic Flute”, 3 p.m.: Presented by The Children’s Philharmonic in the church’s newly renovated Chamberlain Hall.

Friday, December 20, Movie Night, 7 p.m.: Celebrate the season! Come watch the Frank Capra classic, “It’s A Wonderful Life” on the big screen. Popcorn and drinks will be available.

Sunday, December 22, Worship Service, 10:15 a.m.: Fourth Sunday In Advent. Get into the spirit of the season by wearing your most festive Christmas clothing! Special holiday music by the Chancel Choir.

Tuesday, December 24, Family Service, 4 p.m.: All families are welcome to join in the holiday cheer. All children are invited to participate in a recreation of the Christmas Story.

Tuesday , December 24, Service of Lessons and Carols, 9:00 p.m.: This is a more reflective service and features musical interludes by the Chancel Choir as the Christmas Story is told.
