Mrs. Elizabeth (nee Richards) Guarducci, 80, died peacefully surrounded by her family on December 9, 2019 at her home in Verona. Visiting will be held in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona on Friday, December 13 from 3 to 6 p.m. with a service at 6 p.m.

Born in Washington, D.C., Mrs. Guarducci was a lifelong resident of Verona and graduated in 1957 from Lacordaire Academy in Montclair.

She was library director of the Essex County Hospital Center (Overbrook) for 33 years before retiring in 2000. Mrs. Guarducci was the founder and president of the Essex County Unit Managers & Supervisors Association, served on the board of directors of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and was a founder of the Greater Essex Counseling Services, which provides addiction treatment services.

Mrs. Guarducci was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Joseph Guarducci, her parents, Bernard and Elizabeth (nee Feeley) Richards and sister, Patricia Allan.

She is survived by her loving children, Joseph Michael Guarducci (Donna), Chris Guarducci (Barbara), Donna Nieglos (Steve) and Katy Linton (Will); cherished grandchildren, Nicole and Julianne Guarducci, Steven Nieglos (Jennifer), Gregory Nieglos (Kaitlin), Michael Nieglos and Christopher Guarducci; and priceless great-grandchildren, Steven Nieglos, III (Tre) and Nathan Nieglos. She is also survived by her sisters, Irene Capozzi, Bernadette Brotman and Rosellen Ziefle.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Greater Essex Counseling Services, 23 Branford Place, Newark, NJ 07102 in her memory would be appreciated.
