Barry Giblin passed away on November 9, 2019.

A lifelong resident of Verona, he was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Church and attended Verona schools, graduating class of 1971. He was an exceptional high school football and baseball player and a great MSU cornerback. He later ran over 60 marathons with a 2.28 PR. Barry held a BA in industrial arts and a masters in art.

During his life, Barry saw the world in different ways and expressed his perspective in his paintings. He inspired many people to overcome their challenges (such as mental illness), start their own business and to strive for independence. Barry brought a positive energy to all around him. He will be missed.

Barry is survived by his sister, Betsey and her husband, Tony Ugarte, his beloved nieces and nephew, Jenny, Jessie and Jason Blankenship, as well as many dear friends.

A celebration of Barry’s life will be held at The First Presbyterian Church of Verona, 10 Fairview Ave., on Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 7 to 8 p.m. (Please use the rear entrance at the parking lot.)
