Laura Fortgang, the Verona resident who is running for state Assembly in the 26th District, has earned the endorsement of the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association and Blue Wave NJ, a grassroots organization that advocates for progressive issues and trains and mobilizes volunteers to help elect progressive candidates.
The state PBA represents more than 33,000 law enforcement officers throughout New Jersey. “We have had the opportunity to listen to Laura Fortgang’s vision for New Jersey and for law enforcement throughout the state, which is why we are proud to endorse her for New Jersey General Assembly in the 26th District,” NJ State PBA president Patrick Colligan said in a statement announcing the endorsement. “It is important that we have leaders like Laura down in Trenton fighting to help our members, so she has our full support this November 5th. Laura has campaigned hard on a theme of moving New Jersey forward, and we look forward to helping her become victorious on Election Day,” he said.
“The men and women who put themselves on the line every day for our safety have my respect and awe,” Fortgang said. “Officers and their families take risks for all of us as they serve our communities. With an officer in my family, and a local police force that models professionalism, I’ve seen some of the best. I hope to support the growth and safety of our force across the state. It’s with great pride that I receive the NJS PBA endorsement of my candidacy for State Assembly,” she said.
Fortgang also hailed the Blue Wave NJ endorsement. “Blue Wave New Jersey’s tireless advocacy for great public policy has moved New Jersey forward towards a fairer and more transparent government that benefits all of us,” Fortgang said. “They do an extraordinary job of organizing, educating and moving initiatives which protect our healthcare, our education, workers’ rights, and they always focus on the economic repercussions of these initiatives. I am deeply grateful for thier endorsement, I’m delighted to have their strength behind this campaign. I look forward to working together now and when I get to Trenton to represent the 26th district,” she said.
