Verona To Mark 18th Anniversary Of 9/11

Verona’s 9/11 monument includes a piece of steel from the World Trade Center towers.

Verona will mark the 18th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks with a ceremony on Wednesday, September 11, beginning at 8:45 a.m. in the Civic Center by the 9/11 memorial.

Two Verona residents died in the attacks on the World Trade Center towers, Stephen Roach and William Erwin. Both men are remembered on Verona’s 9/11 Memorial as well as on the 9/11 Memorial Wall in lower Manhattan. Howard Kestenbaum, a Montclair resident who worshipped at Verona’s former synagogue, Congregation Beth Ahm, also died.

The ceremony includes:

• National Anthem
• Opening Prayer
• Mayor’s Remarks
• Lighting of the Memorial Candle
• Moment of Silence
• Singing of God Bless America
• Closing Prayer
