Signe-Marie Shimonaski, a resident of Verona for 48 years, passed away peacefully during the early morning of June 22, 2019. She was 75.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Thursday, June 27 from 4 to 7 p.m., with a Service of Remembrance at 6:30 p.m. Condolences and directions at www.ProutFuneralHome.com.

She had three passions in her life; nursing, traveling and family. She was a remarkable caring nurse. She had the ability when called upon to listen with care and compassion for her friends and family.

Signe-Marie was born in Oslo, Norway in June of 1943 to the late Ebba (Magnusson) Sorvold and the late Walther Sorvold. She was also predeceased by her son Erik Shimonaski.

She leaves behind her husband of 52 years, Gerard Shimonaski, her daughter Kristine and son-in-law Patrick Liska; grandson Matthew Liska; granddaughter Brittany and her husband Christian Marin. She is also survived by her brother Steven Sorvold and wife Linda and their children Paul and Kimberly.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to be made to the Verona Rescue Squad or the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit Food Pantry.
