Flamingoes Flock To Changes At First Presbyterian

No, your eyes are not deceiving you, the front lawn of the First Presbyterian Church of Verona was covered with two dozen pink flamingos this morning! The “infestation” is, of course, part of the fundraising efforts of Verona High School’s Spotlight Players.

And the timing couldn’t be more appropriate, as the church, which is celebrating it’s 125th birthday this year, is having its stage area completely renovated, thanks in part, to a generous grant from the Plansoen Foundation. As a matter of fact, on May 2, the building was closed so that construction could take place. The new stage area, which is located in the church’s Chamberlain Hall, will feature new curtains (and rigging), stage lighting and a sound system/sound board that is being overseen by church members, Charlie Heyer and Tony Pomponio.

The once completed, the new stage will be utilized for upcoming special events that celebrate the church’s 125 years in Verona.
