Give Local On Giving Tuesday

Veronans are very giving people. We give jackets to warm California wildfire victims we don’t know, simply because a fellow Veronan calls on us to do so. We give to support a Verona veteran’s effort to change the lives of homeless veterans. We give hand-knitted hats to chemotherapy patients and Native Americans. We give things we no longer need to a church thrift shop so that others can make new use of them. We give to feed people in our community–and communities elsewhere.

And today, for a nationwide event called #GivingTuesday, MyVeronaNJ is going to give you a reminder of the many opportunities for philanthropy right here at home in Verona.

These Verona groups can put a donation today to good use in our community all year long, improving our health and safety, and providing everything from food to scholarships. Many of them also have linked up with AmazonSmile, so that when you shop through that site at any time of year, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of your eligible purchase amount to the charity.

Many of Verona’s community support organizations will have tables at Fair in the Square this Saturday, December 1, and we encourage you to talk to them about all the ways you can help. Not just by donating money, but also by volunteering your time for their efforts. If we’ve missed any Verona charities, be sure to let us–and our readers–know.
