Carly Waterman, who went on to play volleyball for Montclair State University after graduating Verona High School with the class of 2018 and playing for VHS’ championship team, has been named Rookie of the Year by the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).
In announcing the recognition, NJAC said that the freshman outside hitter was a five-time NJAC Rookie of the Week honoree this season. Waterman finished her first NJAC campaign ranked fourth in both conference-only kills (3.39 per set) and conference only points (3.84 per set).
Waterman was named Second Team, NJAC All-Conference, the only freshman named to the league’s first or second-team all-conference squads. She also ranked 15th in conference-only aces (0.36 per set) and 18th in conference-only digs (2.71 per set).
Montclair State will play Kean University for the NJAC Championship tomorrow, Saturday, November 3, at 1 p.m. You can watch the game live here.
