The first week of October saw the community getting ready to fight hunger as the BOE election candidates answered another question about how they would serve the Board.
On Monday night, members of the Junior Woman’s Club received a proclamation from the Town Council for Verona Fights Hunger Week, which starts on Sunday, October 14, and runs through Saturday, October 20. You can fight hunger by donating groceries–or by dining out. Details here.
The Verona High School girls cross-country team came in second at the Super Essex Conference American Division Championship in Branch Brook Park on Wednesday, while the boys team had one runner in the top 20 of this very competitive division. We’ve got the winning times here.
The Board of Education is essentially the board of directors of Verona’s public schools. In a corporate setting, board members bring best practices from the outside world to the company they serve. So this week, MyVeronaNJ.com asked the four candidates for November’s BOE election to tell us what one best practice would you like to share with the schools. You can read their answers here.
What else happened in the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6? Bocce players played for charity, football fell to Weequahic, the Marching Maroon and White marched their way to a trophy, and more.
