This week is the Week of Respect at all Verona elementary schools. There’s a Town Council meeting on Monday that will be taking new action on affordable housing, some ghost stories from the Verona Historical Society and lots of sports. And a heads up: Next Sunday, October 7, is the Verona Conference of SCAs Food Truck Festival at VHS.

Here’s what’s happening:

Sunday, September 30
The Right Reverend Carlye-Hughes, the Episcopal Bishop of the Diocese of Newark, will visit the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 36 Gould Street, Verona, to preach and celebrate the 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist.

Monday October 1
Week of Respect, all elementary schools
Scholastic Book Fair, during lunch and after school, HBW
Tennis: Girls varsity vs. Montclair Kimberley Academy, 4 p.m., at MKA
Volleyball vs Sparta at Sparta, 4:30 p.m.
Soccer: Girls varsity vs. Millburn, 6 p.m., at VHS, Senior Night
Town Council meeting, 7-10 p.m., Town Hall

Tuesday October 2

Scholastic Book Fair, during lunch and after school, HBW
Cross country: SEC American Division Championship, 4 p.m., at Branch Brook Park
Soccer: Boys varsity vs. Seton Hall Prep, 4 p.m., at VHS
Tennis: Girls varsity vs. Bloomfield, 4 p.m., at VHS
Verona Historical Society presentation on ghost stories from Overbrook and the Essex County Penitentiary

Wednesday October 3
