Mr. William D. Collins, 86, died on September 5, 2018 at the home of his daughter. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Sunday, September 9 from 1 to 5 p.m. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Monday at 10 a.m.
Born in Glen Ridge, Mr. Collins lived in Verona until retiring to West Palm Beach, Fla. in 2002.
He was a plumber with UA Local 24 in West Caldwell for 40 years, retiring in 1994.
Mr. Collins served in the Army Airborne in Korea, was a volunteer with the Verona Ambulance Unit and vice president of the Pine Ridge North Condo Association.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Cynthia (nee Feeney) Collins and his brothers, John, Richard and Francis.
Mr. Collins is survived by his children, William Collins, Jr. (Jean) and Susan Minelli (Ralph), his grandchildren, William Collins III, Christine Collins, Alissa Minelli, Michele Collins, Ralphie Minelli IV and his great-grandson, Colin James Mack.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Verona Rescue Squad, Verona Fire Department or Verona PBA Local 72 would be appreciated.
