The Verona Environmental Commission has a vacancy to fill, and here’s what you need to do if you are interested in joining.
The VEC was established in 1992 to help protect Verona’s natural resources, both land and water.
It makes recommendations to the Planning Board or to the mayor and Town Council on things that should be included in Verona’s Master Plan. The VEC reviews applications sent to the Planning Board and the Board of Adjustment to evaluate their impact on the environment, and makes recommendations about open space preservation, water resources management, air pollution control, solid waste management, noise control, soil and landscape protection, environmental appearance, marine resources and protection of flora and fauna.
The Commission meets monthly in the Verona Community Center on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The next meeting is on September 12.
Anyone interested in serving on the Verona Environmental Commission can apply by submitting the form available here. For more information, contact VEC Chairwoman Gloria Machnowski at [email protected].
