Verona will be holding its Fourth of July fireworks display on Monday, July 2, at the Verona Community Center complex.
There will be DJ entertainment beginning at 7 p.m. and the fireworks will go off around 9:20 p.m. You can bring blankets and beach chairs out onto Liberty Field, but no four-legged chairs. No food or drinks will be allowed on the turf field.
Parking is limited, so town officials would like to encourage everyone to walk to the Community Center. Limited handicapped parking will be available in the Liberty Field lot with additional parking available at 799 Bloomfield Avenue and at Cameco, 100 Pine Street. If a rain date is needed, it will be Tuesday, July 3.
If you can’t make the fireworks in Verona, or you just crave more, Cedar Grove will have its display on Sunday, July 1 at Panther Park Field. The gates will open there at 7 p.m. and Cedar Grove always asks for a donation when you enter. Bring a blanket because, like Verona, Cedar Grove doesn’t allow camp chairs on the turf.
If you want even more fireworks, there are three opportunities through Essex County. On Friday, June 29, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra will perform in Branch Brook Park at 7:30 p.m., ahead of a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m. If it rains, the concert will be held in the Cathedral Basilica of Newark and the fireworks display will be rescheduled. On Monday, July 2, the Motor City Revue, a Motown tribute band, will perform at Weequahic Park at 7:30 p.m., with fireworks at dusk. and on Tuesday, July 3, the County will host the Belle Tones and Total Soul in Montclair’s Brookdale Park at 7:30 p.m., with fireworks after the performances at 9:15 p.m.
