Essex County held its annual fishing derby in Verona Park this week and there were several Veronans among the winners.

Cole Reynolds, seen above with Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. and Deputy Parks Director Kate Hartwyk caught seven fish to win the boys’ 0-5 age category. The Verona Municipal Alliance Committee (VMAC) co-sponsored the event, and provided bobbers and all the prizes for the derby in Verona.

Madelyn Duerk won the girls’ 0-5 age category with six fish. Her brothers Dylan and Christian, and parents Alana and Scott helped recognize her achievement.

Emma Hogan caught her first fish five minutes into the contest and caught a total of six fish to win the girls’ 11-15 age category.

Aidan Azarowicz caught the first fish in the boys’ category and the most fish in the boys’ 11-15 age category–a whopping 19 fish.
