Rescue Squad To Hold Bone Marrow, Blood Drive
The Verona Rescue Squad, with Community Blood Services, will hold a blood and bone marrow drive in support of Veronica Depauli on Wednesday, June 13 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Verona Community Center. Please note that the event was originally scheduled for May 19.
Veronica is a smart, loving, and determined seven-year-old who is the oldest of two children. She lives in West Orange. She has a rare disease, Autosomal Dominant Osteopetrosis Type 2, and needs a bone marrow transplant. She has not found a match in the national database. Several events have been held locally to look for a match.
Participants may choose to donate blood, to register with the marrow drive, or both. All blood donors will receive free health screenings including cholesterol, blood pressure, iron, pulse and blood type. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds. Eat before donating and bring your ID. Walk-ins welcome.
The Community Center is located at 880 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona. For more information, visit www.VeronaRS.org or www.communitybloodservices.org.
The Verona Rescue Squad is a community supported non-profit organization and there is never a charge for their services.
