Fogarty Takes First In SEC Pole Vault In Strong Meet For VHS Boys

Owen Fogarty 13 feetPole vaulter Owen Fogarty cleared 13′ at the SEC Track & Field championship yesterday, taking first place with a new meet record and a new personal record for the Verona High School sophomore. In February, Fogarty broke the VHS boys indoor track record for pole vault at the Group track championship, clearing 12’6″. Saturday’s feat capped a strong performance by the VHS boys track & field team at the Newark event.

Peter Farley became the SEC Colonial Division champion in the 100 meter, while sophomore Isaac Skrivanic claimed first place in both javelin and shot put. The team of David Navarro, Amon Rosenweig, Chris Robinson and Vincent Hogan took third place in the 4×400, while Verona captured three medals in the 3200 meter race: Sean Carney (3rd), Mike Maglione (4th) and Philip Chivily (6th). Hogan also medaled in the 400 meter race.

PJ Jordan and Bill Fauerbach took second and fourth place, respectively, in javelin, and there were medals for Ryan Stanisci (3rd) and Griffin Jordan (6th) in discus. Jason Siegelin and David Navarro medaled in the 800 meters, and Siegelin and fellow captain Mark Walsh medaled in the mile.
