Sustainable Verona, the town team to make Verona greener, will be selling composters and rain barrels to residents at a discount.
The composter will be available for $50, which is about half the price of a similar unit online. Composters turn vegetable scraps into dirt that can then be used in flower or vegetable gardens. By composting, you also reduce the amount of food waste going into landfills.
Placed under a downspout, rain barrels collect runoff from your roof for you to use later when watering your lawn or garden. The rain barrel being promoted by Sustainable Verona costs $65.
Orders for either item must be placed by May 14, and you will be able to pick them up on May 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Sustainable Verona’s annual Green Fair at the Civic Center. The website for orders is here. The rain date for the Green Fair is Sunday, May 20. Sustainable Verona’s e-commerce site has several other items to make your composting and rain collecting easier.
