Well, after all the snow days we’ve had, you knew this was coming: Verona’s public schools have added Thursday, April 5, and Friday, April 6, back to the calendar as full days of school so we can meet the 180 days of instruction mandated by the New Jerseu Department of Education.
The district allots three snow days to the school calendar each year. If more emergency closing dates are needed, then they are taken from Spring Break.
“We recognize that any modification to the school calendar may pose conflicts to some families and staff,” Superintendent Dr. Rui Dionisio said in an email yesterday. “Our schools have made arrangements to ensure school will be held on April 5th and 6th. Please understand that decisions made to the development and implementation of our calendar is conducted in accordance with NJ Department of Education regulations, statute, and with consideration for the impact on our community and all scheduled activities and graduation. Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation.”
