Verona has just joined a long list of other New Jersey schools, saying that schools will be closed on Wednesday, March 7. We are expecting our second Nor’easter in a week to begin later tonight, but this time it’s a storm that could dump more than a foot of snow in our area.
All after-school activities have been nixed too, and any events that had been planned to be held in school buildings. The Verona Recreation Department has cancelled all of its Wednesday programs, including the senior exercise classes. Gov. Phil Murphy has declared a state of emergency statewide beginning at 8 p.m. tonight. All Essex County parks will be closed tomorrow.
The Verona Police Department has sent out word that there will be no overnight parking tonight, or parking on snow-covered streets tomorrow. And when you start shoveling (not into the street: that’s illegal), remember that the Verona Fire Department appreciates your help in digging out the fire hydrant closest to your home.
