The Mercier Club will be honoring Verona resident Dave Giarrusso at its 47th annual Mercier Club Sportsman of the Year Award Dinner on Monday, March 19, at Mayfair Farms in West Orange. Giarrusso, the head lacrosse coach for Seton Hall Prep, will receive the Msgr. Edward J. Larkin Award.
The Mercier Club will also present its Peter A. Carlesimo Award to Sports Illustrated’s senior baseball writer and MLB/Fox sports analyst, Tom Verducci (Seton Hall Prep Class of 1979).
There will be cash bar starting at 6: p.m. with beefsteak dinner at 7 p.m. Attendance is limited to men and boys 14 years and older. Tickets are $75 per person. Tickets may be purchased individually. The Mercier Club is a Catholic social organization based in the Greater Essex area. The annual Father-Son Sportsman of the Year Dinner raises money to support local charities including the local ambulance squads and food pantries as well as Catholic seminaries.
