On Sunday, February 11 at 3 p.m. the First Presbyterian Church of Verona located at 10 Fairview Avenue will host the William Patterson University Chamber Choir in a performance of sacred music.
The WPU Chamber Choir, under the direction of Lauren Fowler-Calisto, is one of six select vocal ensembles in the Department of Music, comprised of 34 auditioned students from several majors across the university in addition to music. The choir performs a wide range of traditional to contemporary choral repertoire, including new compositions by emerging composers. In addition to its own repertoire, the Chamber Choir sings combined works with the Concert Choir, Men’s and Women’s Choruses, Jazz Orchestra, University Orchestra, WP Opera, and Pop Ensembles. The Chamber Choir is touring internationally in 2018 to Austria and Italy, singing Mass at St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice and in St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican, in addition to performing a full mass at the State Cathedral in Salzburg, conducted by head Domkapellmeister, János Czifra. The group will also perform full concerts throughout the tour in Vienna, Venice and Rome, including two combined performances with professional community choirs.
Immediately following the concert there will be a reception with light refreshments and an opportunity to meet the artists.
