Mrs. Mary C. Trasente, 82, died on January 24, 2018 in Middletown, N.J., surrounded by her loving family. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Thursday, January 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will begin at the funeral home on Friday at 9 a.m., with a funeral mass to be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona at 10 a.m.
Mrs. Trasente was born and raised in Newark and lived in Bloomfield for 29 years before moving to Verona in 1992 and then to Middletown in 2013.
She was a secretary in the Health Professions Department at Montclair State University for 22 years before retiring in 2002.
Mrs. Trasente was a member of the choir at Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield for 20 years and then leader of song and choir member at Our Lady of the Lake Church for 20 years.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Torquato Trasente, loving children, Michael Trasente (Rose Platas) and Sandra Auletta (Richard) and cherished grandchildren, David Trasente, Justin Drozdowski, and Brianna Drozdowski. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dolores Mortola and niece, Claudine Mortola. Mrs. Trasente was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Margaret (nee Pasenti) Mortola and brother, Jack Mortola.
