For the first time ever, members from Verona Police PBA Local 72 put down their foamy shaving cream and their extremely overpriced sharp-edged razors and participated in No-Shave November 2017.
No-Shave November is a web-based non-profit organization that raises cancer awareness and funds to support cancer prevention, research, and education. While many cancer patients lose their hair during treatment, supporters of No-Shave November let theirs grow and donate the money they might have otherwise spent on grooming.
Verona police officers raised $1,670. The funds were then presented to the Minette’s Angels Foundation, a Verona-based non-profit. The Foundation provides assistance to those in treatment, supports research and promotes breast health awareness. It also offers scholarships to second-year nursing students at Seton Hall University’s College of Nursing and to Verona students entering the medical field, placing a priority on nursing majors.
“It’s an awesome charity to donate too and I will be participating next year, but having a full beard is way too itchy for me”, said Det. TJ Conroy who participated in the event.
