On Giving Tuesday, Ways To Give Local

Today is #GivingTuesday, and while many in Verona have undoubtedly made plans to give to favorite charities all over the country, there are also opportunities for philanthropy right here at home. There are ways to give money, but also ways to donate your time and talents.

These Verona groups can put a donation today to good use in our community all year long, improving our health and safety, and providing everything from food to scholarships. Many of them also have linked up with AmazonSmile, so that when you shop through that site at any time of year, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of your eligible purchase amount to the charity.

Of course there are opportunities beyond even this list. Many Veronans can and do make regular donations to their houses of worship and the sports teams that their children play for. Many volunteer to serve the Verona Rescue Squad and the Verona Fire Department, though both groups can always use more help. (Check their websites for how to join.) You buy cookies and candies and wreaths from our Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and support yearly fundraisers like the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Montclair-Verona Out Of The Darkness Walk and the Newman Cares Blockfest, both of which can also be supported through Amazon Smile.
