Saturday, November 25, is the date for this year’s Team Zoey “Turkey Trot” races in Verona Park.
Now in its seventh year, the 5K race and one mile “fun run” raise money to battle an unusual childhood disease, progeria.
Zoey Penny of Verona was just a toddler when she was diagnosed with the fatal, rapid aging disease. A group of volunteers has created Team Zoey to hold the “Turkey Trot” races in Verona Park, golf outings and more to raise money for the Progeria Research Foundation.
