The Verona Conference of SCAs, which represents the School Community Associations at each of Verona’s public schools, is opening the parking lot at Verona High School to a food truck festival this Sunday, October 8.
From 1 to 6 p.m. you can dine your way around some of the best food trucks in our area: Bro-Ritos, which specializes in burritos and tacos; Carnivale Donut Bar, which makes donut- and cookie-topped ice cream shakes and donut ice cream sandwiches; Cuban sandwich specialist Cubano X-Press; Donny’s Dogs, which made the Munchmobile’s list of best hot dogs in New Jersey; Empanada Lady, one of Verona’s two sit-down eateries with food trucks; Koro Koro Cafe Rice Balls, which serves serves Japanese-style onigiri; Mike’s Ice Cream, which features Good Humor treats; Ms. Fu’s Yummy Food Truck and its Japanese, Korean, Thai and Chinese dishes; The French Quarter, which is inspired by New Orlean and Cajun cooking; Thai Elephant, which also has a restaurant in Verona; and Tiny Elephant, the Montclair bakery and cafe run by Verona natives.
There will also be a touch-a-truck, inflatables and music by Xander Marx, Modern Music Academy, Zenith, 3Way, and Lady Picture Show, a Stone Temple Pilots tribute band fronted by Verona Police Sgt. Dan Greco.
Entry is $7 for adults and free for kids; tickets for the touch-truck and inflatables are $10 per child. You’ll also of course need to pay for whatever you buy at each of the trucks.
The event is co-sponsored by the Township of Verona, Farmer’s Insurance, Green Valley Landscape, and Investors Bank.
