No curb dumping: You’ve got to bring your electronics to an e-waste collection day.
Verona’s municipal government is holding another electronic waste recycling this Friday and Saturday, July 14 and 15.

If you have a TV, computer, monitor or other electronic device, you can drop it off at the Department of Public Works, which is located just before the turn into the Recycling Center at 5 Ozone Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on either day. The the next drop-off day will not be until October, so best to scour the basement and garage for e-waste now.

It has been illegal to put things like TVs and computers at the curb in Verona since 2009. You also can no longer drop them at the Recycling Center with the paper, plastics, glass and clothing that you bring there. Electronic devices contain components that have been shown to cause significant pollution to land and water if they are not disposed of properly.

The easiest way to stay on top of the recycling dates is to put an app called Remyndr on your smartphone. Remyndr is a free smartphone app that was developed by Verona resident Tom Cherry to help all of us remember when to put what at the curb. There’s more information on all aspects of recycling on the Website of the Verona Environmental Commission.
